History and Geography are subjects which support children to understand the world around them.

History helps children to gain a knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. It also helps children to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity within modern Britain.

In Geography children are inspired to be curious and fascinated about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Children develop a knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.

Our fieldwork studies strengthen children’s understanding of their own and wider communities to develop a sense of pride and willingness to protect the world around them for the future.
